WP2
Renewable energies
This work package deploys the novel applications required to design, optimize and forecast production of wind farms.
The objectives of WP 2 are:
- To classify the different wind conditions relevant for wind turbine design, by specifying relevant external parameters in complex flow situations. This will be done by means of regional high resolution mesoscale simulations.
- To develop dynamic techniques for the coupling of mean flow and turbulence from the meso-scale via numerical weather prediction, optimal for large eddy simulation modelling.
- To develop statistical one-way coupling techniques to introduce meso-scale forcing into miro-scale RANS models.
- To asses on the meso-scale/micro-scale coupling techniques on realistic wind farm conditions, carrying out a demonstration of the technology in state-of-art supercomputing machines.
